Day 2 - Area 17 // Papillon // LaPhare Orphanage

Our second full day in Haiti brought such LOVE (which was our Healing Haiti value of the day)! After breakfast, we walked up to a local artisan shop - it was so special to see all the handmade items we were able to buy to support these special individuals. After we were done making our purchases, we loaded into the tap-taps and went back to Area 17 to play with the kids. We brought coloring books, crayons, balls and jumpropes. The kids had a lot of fun and while chaotic at times, we enjoyed spending time playing, smiling and showing the love of Jesus to them.

We headed back to the guesthouse and got ready for the afternoon. Our first stop was Papillon - we got a tour and were amazed at the good work this business is doing to help Haitians flourish! Papillon has created jobs for over 150 Haitians onsite and 40 offsite! Incredible! We enjoyed smoothies from the cafe on the upper level of Papillon before heading to our next stop...an orphanage called LaPhare. There are 17 orphans living there; we played games with them, painted fingernails and toenails, colored with sidewalk chalk and coloring books. We got a tour of the orphanage and afterwards they sang songs for us. We LOVED spending time there and it was hard to leave.

Our evening consisted of enjoying another delicious meal, worshipping together and sharing our words of the day:

Annette - FUTURE
Shannon - I LOVE YOU
Amy - STILL
Corrina - FAMILIAR
Aphton - INSPIRING
Justin - HEALING
Sue - LOVE
Maya - PEACE
Abe - INTENTIONAL
Josh - MEMORY
Craig - TOGETHER
Savannah - BEAUTIFUL
Lydia - GOODNESS
Jenny - PROTECTED
Lauren - LOVE
Jen - BOND
Kate - COMMUNICATE

Our team unity has been such a blessing and being together and serving has given us such JOY! Prayer requests would be:
- Continued health and protection for our remainder time we'e here
- For us to be the hands and feet of Jesus each day we serve
- God to be glorified in everything we do

  1. It is exciting to hear what the team is accomplishing and the impact they are making on lives. But, oh my, what I'm really excited about is the impact God will make on the lives of the team members themselves. For me especially that would be Abe and Joshua my son in law and grandson. Go Team. Be a light.
